Grade Level:

Activity Details

Thomas Jefferson was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, but was in France serving as the Minister while the Constitution was drafted. However, Jefferson did have comments about the Constitution, as evidenced by his correspondence at the time. Using primary sources, DBQ's and group debate, students will examine Jefferson's view on the Constitution and how they tied in to his larger ideas on politics in early America.
